This is one of my absolute favorite resources that I’ve put together. So, I wanted to share with you! It is perfect for kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade as you begin to introduce or reinforce the “bossy r”.
In my experience, students love themed resources and a challenge! Well, I think r-controlled vowels are definitely a challenge and what’s better than puppies?!
This activity is meant to support interaction with this rule and help students gain fluency by seeing the picture and visualizing the word spelled out.
You can also add differentiation by printing the answer key cards!
Here is a view of this activity in a pocket chart. Each r-controlled vowel has six pictures (for a total of 30 picture cards)
